Primary research

What kind of graphics will you use to convey or accompany your "primary research" in your final report? Will these graphics serve the purpose of making technical details comprehensible to a non-expert audience? What problems with this conveyance of information do you foresee?

  1. Graphics that I will use in my final report will be data tables, pictures of the micro-structures, and graphs. It is much easier to produce a graph than it is to list an enormous amount of data so they convey the point of whatever they are explaining. For example, a harness measurement vs. distance would be easily recognizable if it was in a graph rather than a data table. I think that by explaining all of the basic terms the graphs will become easily analyzed when presented to a non-expert audience. The only problem is having too many micrographs in my report. I need to see the microstructer every certain amount of distance so having a lot of pictures could be distracting to the audience.

  2. For my primary research I am using one list, one table and about 6 figures. The table is a quick synopsis of the results that can be used to compare the results information at a glance. The list is a synthesized list of the methods/steps to conduct the study. the figures are graphics to help comprehension. I think the biggest trouble I will have with my figures is that I am not sure how well they convey the information to a non-expert audience.

  3. My graphics are going to be only one or two graphs which will depict mortality rates and the number of unhealthy tadpoles. This is the only quantitative data I have, and I intend to spend at least one page reviewing the results of the graph and its implications. The data is fairly straight forward, and will be color coded by test group.

  4. For my primary research, it's mostly information based. However, I will use some pictures of a cargo trailer because that is what our lab is gonna be in and a picture of an improvised explosive device. Also, i will put a picture of the layout of the groups lab.

  5. My graphics focused on the data presentation in an organized manor so that a reader can easily identify findings. Additionally, my graphics showed screenshots of the type of work we were doing to depict how easy it was to accomplish a particular task, which made it vulnerable. The problem I foresaw and encountered was the multiple levels of explination required to understand the material.
